Sesame Street on WCAX 2-7-12

Today we had some visitors to our morning show. That isn’t unusual — we typically have one or two guests per day. But these ones were a very colorful bunch.

Sesame Street Live was coming to Burlington for a couple days of shows, so they reached out to us to appear on our show. I set it up, and it was a lot of fun for everyone. You won’t see me at all — I was upstairs timing out the segments and crying laughing during the ensuing hilarity.

Their first appearances during our weather chat segment were not planned, but they were so amusing. The way the studio was set up, they have to pass the tech set (where weather chat was in progress) to get to the soft set (where the interview was going to take place). Except they didn’t go the other way, around the cameras. The result: Elmo made a sneak peek appearance and hung out there for a little while.

Then we got to their actual interview, where Keagan sprung a surprise on Jennifer (who was filling in that day) — a hug from Cookie Monster.

But of course, everyone was waiting for Cookie Monster to help our meteorologist Gary with the weather… and he did!

Gary called for backup help with the forecasting. This is what he got.

Now, as the producer, I’d known that Elmo and Cookie Monster were going to show up… but I did NOT know about Grover… Gary’s apparent alter ego. If you didn’t watch until the end of the video above, you’ll know what I mean.
