WCAX Firefighter Electric Vehicle Training PKG 3/3/12

There’s really a good reason for posting this late, I promise.

See, it ran on Saturday, but I planned on fronting it live on the morning show on Monday. And I did — three times (one PKG version, two VO/SOTVO cutdowns… the third time was crazy because it was during one of the cut-ins, so I had to liveside and then sprint back upstairs in 30 seconds to finish timing out the cut-in).

Unfortunately, the system we have to tape the morning broadcasts failed, so none of my livesides were caught for me to post anywhere (boo!). So I posted this one from the original time it aired (Saturday at 6, though it ran at 11 too).

It was interesting to learn that despite different technology in the cars, there really weren’t that many changes for firefighters in terms of how to handle them — it was mostly a session to dispel misconceptions about the cars rather than to train on anything new, procedure-wise (though there were a couple new things to be aware of).
