I’m a few days late posting this one, but I’ve been busy — it’s another long week at work! And we forgot to roll on the morning show on WCAX, so I had to wait until the 6 p.m. to get a copy of my piece (shame, because I had livesided it that morning!).

In any case, it was a rather interesting piece on a book that had been returned 50+ years late to the Fletcher Free Library in Burlington. I used that as a way to discuss some of the challenges libraries face in getting the materials back from patrons — since there is little recourse for them to go after people.

It was a story I felt pretty comfortable doing, seeing as my first job was at a library at home in Santa Cruz (for the full story, refer to this post) and missing books were something I dealt with on a daily basis.

I would have loved to talk with the man who returned the book, but I had a quick turnaround for the piece and couldn’t reach him in time. Oh well!
